The Sturdevant-McKee Museum in Atkinson is a period-home museum which was placed on the National Historic Site in 1999.
Brantly and Ellen Sturdevant moved to Atkinson in 1885 and built the house in 1887, and it remained in the family until it was donated to the Sturdevant-McKee Foundation in 1994.
The house is of the Queen Anne style of architecture and is furnished with items from the Sturdevant-McKee families .
These furnishings illustrate life in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Photographs of early settlers and family members, correspondence, and books will be available for study by researchers.
Hours are 8-12 and 1-5, M-F, with other times by appointment.

My name is Dr. Kristen M Sturdevant, daughter of William Hendricks Sturdevant, and Granddaughter of Charles Oliver Sturdevant who was born August 8, 1907, in Atkinson, Nebraska. Originally from Portland, Oregon, I resided in Lincoln, Nebraska, where I completed my graduate school internship in 2007-8. We were married on the Lincoln Capitol steps in 2007. We moved in 2011 to Florida where I currently reside. I’m hoping to make it back this year for our ten year anniversary. I am interested in learning how my grandfather is related to the Brantley Sturdevant family. Please feel free to contact me with any info you may have. My grandfathers profile is available on google due to his history as a neuropsychiatrist.
Please send me your email and I can send you a capture from my Family Tree that shows you the relationship. jim@jimblack.info
Kristan Sturdevant,
My grandfather was John Newton Sturdevant, your great grandfather. I never met Oliver but I met a couple of Oliver’s brothers a few years back in Portland, OR. I want to know more about the Sturdevant family as well as my grandfather John Newton Sturdevant an family pryor to him. Perhaps you can help me?
Hi Kristen,
My name is Richard Anthony Sturdevant, and my dad was Dr. Charles O Sturdevant (Tony). After he had three sons and divorced his first wife Helen, he married my mother Nancy and together had me which means I’m your “1/2” nephew. Dad passed away on February 16th 2001 at the age of 93 and mother at 84 March 23 2002, no pain, it was just time. I have lot’s of historical stuff of their lives which I need to go through but I recently moved and haven’t had the time yet. Brantly and Ellen I believe are dad’s parents first names but hopefully I can prove that (somehow I think Ellen is correct). I will call your office and leave my email address and phone number if you want to talk further.
Kristen, I meant to say you are my “1/2” Niece.
