South Sioux City

A unique feature of this area is the soil. It is a fine yellowish loess found nearly in only two places in the world: Sioux City and China.

Located on the banks of the Missouri River, South Sioux City is a great place to spend a day or a lifetime.

Here you can picnic, swim or camp at Scenic Park, which overlooks the Majestic Missouri River. There is boating and fishing on the river with ramps available.

This water area is highlighted through the annual Waterfest celebration held the third week of June,

South Sioux City is also home to world-class sporting comp-lexes, and plays host for the Gus Macker 3 on 3 baseball tournament as well as numerous sporting/recreational trade, attractions and convention opportunities with bordering communities North Sioux City, South Dakota and Sioux City, Iowa.

In late July the Winnebago Indians hold their annual Pow Wow at Winnebago.

The Omaha Pow Wow takes place in late August at Macy.

These colorful events place the Indians, proud heritage on display.
