Bassett is a city in Rock County, Nebraska, United States.
The population was 538 at the 2020 census.
It is the county seat of Rock County.

- Bassett was platted in 1884 soon after the railroad was built through that territory. Sources differ whether it was named for A. N. Bassett, or J. W. Basset, a pioneer settler. Basset is in an especially scenic area of the Sandhills with hills to the south and west; the Niobrara River Valley to the North; meadowlands  to the east. The Bassett area is noted for its' hunting, both deer and turkey. Visit the Historical Park which features the Rock County Historical Museum consisting of 6 original buildings and numerous exhibits of pioneer heritage. The City Park has a swimming pool, play park, picnic and camping areas. Visit downtown and find Memory Lane Park; historical Phillip's 66 Station; and Bassett Art Councils' Kaleidoscope Gallery which makes them number 1 in the Arts.
