Platted in 1886 when the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad arrived, Grant quickly became the civic heart of Perkins County. Named after Ulysses S. Grant, it was more than a stop—it was a statement.
Its courthouse square, grain elevators, and historic commercial district still stand as testaments to a town that never stopped serving. Through droughts, depressions, and rural shifts, Grant held firm.
Today, it’s not just a county seat—it’s a corridor cornerstone. A place where history is housed in brick and civic pride still pulses through the streets.
Explore Grant’s courthouse square, historic commercial district, and its enduring role in the corridor’s civic life.
