Max began as a railroad siding and agricultural stop in eastern Dundy County.
Its post office opened in 1880, and for decades, the town supported a school, grain elevator, and a few homes.
Though many buildings have faded, the elevator still stands, and the town remains a quiet sentinel along U.S. Route 34.
Locals remember softball games, school picnics, and the sound of trains rolling through at dusk.
Max’s story is one of quiet resilience—and every submission helps keep it alive.
