Chadron is a city and the county seat of Dawes County, Nebraska, United States, in the Great Plains region.

Here is the home of Chadron State College which, from its modest beginnings in 1910, has evolved into a rapidly growing multipurpose  institution offering degrees at the graduate level today.

Be sure to visit the Earth Science Museum.

Chadron boasts of three city  parks.

Golf is great at Chadron Golf Course, or try horseshoe pitching at the Chadron Lions Club Horseshoe Park.

A beautiful drive is one taken through Nebraska National Forest, located south and west of Chadron.

Fur Trade Days is an annual event, always the second week in July, and featuring buck skinners rendezvous.

Here also is Chadron State Park, just south of Chadron.

It was established in 1921 and today offers excellent trout fishing, swimming, horseback riding, camping, hiking , picnicking and cross country skiing.

There are cabins for vacation enjoyment. Just three miles south of Chadron is the Dawes County Historical Society Museum which has extensive exhibits on the county’s colorful history.

The White House Bed & Breakfast was originally an Episcopal rectory, built at the turn of the 20th century.

It stood in nearby Chadron, Nebraska for about 60 years, until Ralph White, local farmer and rancher, had it moved to its present location 8 miles west
of town.

The White House sits on 400 acres of range an d hay land, with the White River running through it .

Chadron also is the United States Forest Service headquarters of the Nebraska and Samuel R. McKelvie National Forests, and the Buffalo Gap, Fort Pierre, and Oglala National Grasslands. The Museum of the Fur Trade is located near Chadron, at the site of the American Fur Company‘s former Bordeaux Trading Post.
