Dr. Gutshall grew up in the same town of O’Neill that he has practiced in for the past thirty years. He graduated from Wayne State College majoring in Biology in 1985. He lived in Chicago attending the Illinois College of Optometry and graduated in 1989. It the same optometry school that his father Stan had gone to twenty six years earlier.
Scott’s plan had always been to return to his father’s practice after graduation. Scott and his father practiced together for several years and outgrew their original location. Scott built a new office, at its current location in 1995. Dr. Stan Gutshall began to contemplate retirement so Dr. Brad Blumenstock joined the practice in 1998. Scott and Brad practiced together for the next nineteen years. They added onto the building creating additional examination rooms in 2015. Dr. Blumenstock and his wife Georgia moved back to their hometown of Lincoln in 2017 and Dr. Jonna Kohle joined the practice.
Gutshall Kohle Pelster Eyecare continues to grow and serve even more patients. They are fortunate to have expanded services by adding another optometrist, Dr. Tessa Pelster, who joined the practice in January 2020.
Dr. Stan Gutshall opened the practice from scratch in 1964 and fifty-five years later it’s still serving patients of the northern Nebraska area from its base in O’Neill. We hope to be here serving patients in another fifty-five years.
